A PERFECT PAIR

K & D Joinery is a family company which was formed in 1984; in a very short time they had established themselves in London with a reputation for the manufacture of high quality timber windows, doors, stairs and specialist joinery. A progression of expansion since then has seen two moves to satisfy the increasing demand and now they are in a modern 30,000 sq ft factory close to Dagenham, London.

K D Joinery PremisesTo help meet the increased demand for replacement windows in historically important buildings K and D joinery director, Mr Jeremy Murphy, approached John Penny Woodworking Machinery Ltd to find a solution for glazing bar production.
Following these discussions K and D Joinery have now invested in a pair of Stegherr glazing bar jointing machines to streamline bar production.

The KSF 2 closed halving joint machine will produce perfect cross halving joints in profiled applied bars as well as fully rebated glazing bars. The whole joint is produced in one automatic working cycle on each bar, with a simple button selection to change between the two parts of the joint.
The KSF2 supplied to K and D joinery was preset by the engineers at the Stegherr factory to accommodate two different full glazing bar profiles and one applied bar profile to allow changeover without any tool repositioning or setting.
The distance between joints is set using an electronic digital readout on the stop bar allowing extremely accurate production of complete astragals.

The second machine in the Stegherr pairing is the KF Mini end scribing machine.
This machine will scribe the ends of the bars to match the inside profile of the sash or frame. The scribe can be cut on profiled bars without any breakout on the moulded face due to the use of two counter rotating high speed tools. The design of the tool mounting allows quick tool setting when changing the profile of the scribe.
The KF Mini supplied to K and D Joinery is fitted with the optional trim saw which will cut the bar to the correct length prior to producing the scribe.

With this perfect pair of Stegherr machines supplied by the UK agent John Penny Woodworking Machinery Ltd, K and D Joinery will now be producing top quality glazing bar components for all their doors and windows.
